Nicky is a volunteer member of the Red Cross Disaster Response Team, St Johns Major Incident Support Team and LandSAR Search and Rescue team.
Nicky has deployed to a range of disasters including Floods, Tornadoes, Cyclones, White Island, Whangaparaoa for Wuhan Covid evacuees, and this year to the Auckland Anniversary floods followed by Piha, Muriwai and Hawkes Bay for Cyclone Gabrielle.
Nicky loves the outdoors, the more adventurous the better and keeps her fitness up by training for triathlons.

Nobody’s Coming

These are all questions each and every one of us should be thinking about. Emergencies can happen anytime, anywhere and on any scale. Cyclone Gabrielle showed us that a disaster could be so widespread and require so many resources that we need to be prepared to be on our own for several days as the reality could well be that Nobody’s Coming.
