John Macaskill-Smith is a seasoned innovator with over 20 years of experience in both the public and private health sector, as well as a range of time in start-ups and governance. 
 
John has been instrumental in improving health outcomes, advancement and digital adoption in New Zealand and internationally. He has pioneered a range of innovative new ownership, operational, and commercial models for health systems in New Zealand, Australia, the Middle East, and the UK, making significant contributions in these global health systems.
 
John has held a broad range of senior roles including with the Health Funding Authority and Ministry of Health, CEO of New Zealand’s largest regional rural GP network and PHO, and in the private sector delivering new ownership models for business, innovative clinical and digital services with the likes of PwC and Tend alongside a range of start-ups in diverse setting from animal health to building and manufacturing.
 
John retains a number of key governance roles in Private Education and Animal Health alongside his CEO role with Spark Health.
